A teenager found wandering the streets of Nuremberg in 1828, with a letter saying his name was Kaspar Hauser. Theories range from him being a con-man to an illegitimate member of the House of Baden.

DNA testing in 1996,revealed no link to Baden. However, a further test in 2002,showed a 95% match with a surviving member of this family.

He doesn't sound like a wild child though, more like one that had been kept in captivity for a very long time.

DNA testing in 1996 was fairly basic so it is not surpising that a more recent test showed any result.

I suppose he might have been rejected because he suffered from autism - some of his behaviour sounds similar - and the ruling classes of Bavaria were not noted for their sanity at that time.
